Everyday My Neighbor Waters His Plants

Jeffrey Rousseau

--

He waters his plants
He never misses a day
I see love and care.

Look, the greenest lawn
Meticulous with each leaf
For him time is stopped.

He works for his ferns,
Awake before everyone
Yep the roosters too

He loves his flowers.
We say hello, I wonder
Will I love like him?

He tends peace lilies.
He’s twice my age and so calm
Is that fulfillment?

The cacti lively,
just inhales the neighborhood,
He exhales smiling.

His plants have grown strong
Like he’s wanted for these years.
Will I grow with time?
