I promise you I was going to write one of them “here’s my achievements of the year” things I see that many of my peers are doing. However…I don’t think I want to or will? Simply because I’m revaluating what are achievements for myself?
Is it merely goals posts from my career? Does that mean my year wasn’t worthwhile if I didn’t clear goal posts for myself? I’m trying to figure it all out and get a better sense for what it should be.
Now, I will be completely honest my career and my work as a writer/ Black social commentator/analyst means a lot to me. I can’t stress enough how that is a big part of who I am. I’m talking like no compromises and nothing is getting in my way type of energy. I can give you my career road map next 5 no 10 years.
However that’s a big part of myself professionally that’s not all of me, nor is that the only matter of importance.
Yes, it is a big deal that I was able to shift over to journalism to become a full-time staff writer for a major publication. I reached a goal I sent out for myself 6 years ago, proof that these things can happen. Work on your craft put the hours blah blah blah. You’ve heard it all before…
